The Meaning of Life- Sestina
by R. Weaver,
To hunt, to breed, to nurture, to die,
In a nutshell, the meaning of life.
The in-between is incidental,
Variables in a cosmic game.
Karma, objective justice, heaven,
Mercy, words more concept than real.
We are always keepin’ it real;
There is nothing more real than to die-
Dying is the absolute in life;
Life and death are not incidental.
They are the reason we play the game.
They are reason we invent heaven.
Aren’t all God’s children bound for heaven?
Life is a trick only heaven is real-?
Man is only born to at last die,
Dying is the dollar store of life;
The in-between is incidental.
Winning heaven is winning the game.
And only initiates win the game;
Non-believers can’t sully heaven.
Pie-in-the-sky condos for the real
Believers only, doubt and you die
The second death, no forever life
Heathens, no rewards incidental.
Only God is not incidental
So say prophets plying their game
Of who is for hell, who for heaven;
Only heretics ask is God real.
Truly, that we live only to die-
In a nutshell, the meaning to life.
Chance breeds life, and only chance takes life
Away. The middle? incidental.
We win simply by playing the game;
To live is, in itself, a heaven.
I will chance that only life is real
With the wisdom that I am born to die.
An incidental, hell or heaven,
In the cosmic game we name our life;
Live real, and to die will be gift.
