On The Narrowing Path: Lines at 51

On The Narrowing Path
….Lines at 51….

The path ahead is narrower
than what it has been;
journey’s end is just before,
over a hill, around a bend.
Orchards of fears once scarcely noted,
grow over, closing in, closing in-
dimming the light.

But no matter- all paths lead,
dark or light, to the same
sweet end- silence
and oblivion.

Let no man sing me
a dirge at journey’s end;
rather let laughter be
the final hymn.
What gods there be will gather
in justice and mercy what remains.

That I have walked any Path at all
is the miracle…and is enough.

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.
