Personal Aphelion

Personal Aphelion

In blind dark orbit away
from the sense of my own light-
an elliptical flight, erratic,

With Doomsongs in my ear,
a noisy joyless hurtle
into Chaos, blessed nirvana,

seeking, I traveled once, younger,
feeling my life graffiti
scrawled on eternal walls

Or, like a scavenger seagull flying
in shadows of dying suns
without hope, nourishment.

But Hel, she of the coy tear
a vixen meteor flashing
only promise and then gone

The noose broke, swallowed
medicines erupted like lava
on a tiled floor.

And I laughed, drowning out
the doomsongs, orbiting back-
no Armageddon, Genesis

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.
