On “Singing”

Why is it that people who can’t sing, insist on doing so? If they don’t have respect for the integrity of the music, why don’t they, at least, respect the presence of others around them?

I love to sing, but don’t, anymore, publicly. Even privately, I sing sotto voce; I don’t have the breath, anymore, to support the music. It is a great sadness to me, but better silence than to make noise.

When younger, I had a pleasant voice. Who knows what I could have done with it, had it been trained to its full potential? If wishes were horses.

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.

I think it is hilarious to hear people with ear buds in listening to their music and trying to sing along. They are usually so off key even when humming. I sing in my car while driving so no one can hear me. Heh!
