100 Words May 21, 2015- Stonewall Aftermath

While remembering Stonewall, let me note my own minute part in the history of the aftermath. The year after the riot, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, held the first of what would later become Gay Pride Parades. The secondary theme, in Los Angeles, was police harassment; I marched in that parade.

The odd thing is that my memory of that parade differs from public reports. I thought only about a hundred people marched, the reports put it at a thousand. I’m notorious for overestimations.   Whatever, alzheimer’s like memory aside- I take enormous pride that I was there.

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.
