100 Words- June 1,2015

My grandmother used to say, “Pray as if everything depended on God and work as if it all depended on you.” My grandmother was the prayingest person, male or female, that I ever knew.

Three times a day, my grandmother would take her St. Jude shrine statue from off the top of the dinnerware cabinet and place it in front of her on the dining room table, light the candle and, one by one, recite her extensive collection of prayers. She always began and ended the ritual with a full sign of the cross. Never knew for what she prayed.

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.
