100 Words- June 29, 2015- After the Parade

After the Parade

The Chicago celebration was a tremendous event. Because of the Supreme Court ‘s Same-sex marriage ruling, the turnout was estimated at a million people, with whole families, including toddlers, very visible in the crowd. Personal opinion, I thought the parade a more modest display in its overt sexuality than it has been in years past- more tuned to middle-class sensibilities. I’m not sure if that is a good thing. It was not the middle-class gay who began the revolution that gave us the results we were celebrating. It’s important that our history not be an unrecognizable white-wash.

About elrondsilvermaul

I never know what to say about myself. I let what I write try to speak as to who I am. I can only add, here, that I am 72, live in a nursing home, am twenty years a cancer survivor, and identify as a gay male. I intend to use this blog as storage for poems? written over the long years (and still being written). This does not preclude other uses.
